Mission Statement Exhale creates a social climate where each person's unique experience with abortion is supported, respected, and free from stigma. Exhale's free national talkline provides emotional support, resources, and information to women who have had abortions, as well as their partners, family, friends and allies. All calls are completely confidential. The toll-free talkline 1-866-4EXHALE is available in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Tagalog, Mandarin, and Vietnamese, seven days a week.
Volunteer Duties Exhale counselors are drawn to our mission of supporting women and their loved ones after an abortion, and appreciate the nonjudgmental space we provide for people to share their stories. Exhale's volunteer peer counselors answer the hotline, listen and give non-judgmental support to callers. 

Applicants should be able to attend training sessions in downtown Oakland, CA and make a 12-month service commitment after training ends. Bilingual volunteers are particularly encouraged to apply, especially those who speak Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Stipends are offered to bilingual volunteers, and to parents needing childcare. Men are welcome, as the after-abortion talkline is available to both women and men.
